DR. BLOOMFIELD INVITED AS MEMBER OF CANCER COMMITTEE Dr. Clara D. Bloomfield (43015) has accepted an invitation to serve as the American Society of Clinical Oncology representative on the Scientific Committee for the 2009 and 2010 Annual Meetings on Molecular Markers in Cancer. The meeting is co-sponsored by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer, the National Cancer Institute and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Committee members develop the content and structure of the meeting’s educational and scientific program.

GREEN ELECTED TO AMERICAN ACADEMY OF MICROBIOLOGY Patrick Green (43220), director of the Center for Retrovirus Research and co-leader of the Viral Oncology Program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been elected as a fellow in the American Academy of Microbiology, the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). Green will be honored at the Academy Fellows Luncheon and Meeting at the 109th ASM General Meeting in Philadelphia in May.

PASKETT ELECTED CHAIR OF NATIONAL CANCER FORUM Electra Paskett (43017), associate director of Population Sciences at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, has been elected chair of the American Public Health Association’s newly formed Cancer Forum. Its mission is to create a focus on cancer as a public health issue within the organization.
