Dr. Arthur Burghes, in collaboration with Dr. Brian Kaspar at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Dr. David Schaffer at University of California Berkeley, Dr. Don Cleveland at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Stephen Kolb of The Ohio State University and Dr. Mark Rich at Write State University, has received a 3.3 million dollar two-year RC2 “Grand Opportunities” NIH grant to study gene therapy for the treatment of neurological disorders including Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The GO grants program supports large-scale high-impact translational research projects that can fundamentally enhance and accelerate biomedical research.
