I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I developed a passion for learning many new things. I pursued a college education at Penn State, where I earned a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. While there I was able to spend three years doing cell biology research using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system to investigate the role of the Golgi body in determining neuronal microtubule polarity. After realizing how much I enjoyed doing research, I decided to pursue a Ph.D through the Biomedical Sciences. I am now excited to learn new techniques in this program and participate in translational research while I deepen my understanding of biomedical science.
