About the Program

The Biomedical Science major is an undergraduate major that leads to a Bachelor of Science in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.  Students complete the major in four years.  The major is ideally suited for students who have an interest in participating in medical research as an undergraduate student and plan to pursue graduate education, although Biomedical Science students learn and grow during the program and consider many diverse opportunities available to them upon graduation.

As a student in this major, one spends 1-4 years working with one of the prestigious, innovative, and exciting OSU Medical Center research teams.  Students in the Biomedical Science major are encouraged to explore career opportunities in the sciences.  Students can select from a variety of courses such as anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience while working in a research lab and volunteering at one of the OSU hospitals.

These experiences, along with regular advising from our faculty and staff, will help determine the type of career students wish to pursue.  Students who have a strong interest in a career in science, the determination and drive to take on a challenging undergraduate experience, and a high school record that is eligible for the OSU honors program should visit the Biomedical Science major to learn if it is the right place for you.
